Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta chairs a high-level meeting with chairpersons of district development committees and the district magistrates, in New Delhi, Monday.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday chaired a high-level meeting with senior officials to review ongoing development schemes and expedite infrastructure projects across the city. The meeting saw the presence of chairpersons from all District Development Committees (DDCs) and District Magistrates (DMs) from various parts of Delhi.

During the meeting, CM Gupta emphasised the importance of ensuring real-time progress at the grassroots level. She instructed officials to maintain open and transparent communication channels with the public to foster trust and responsiveness. Highlighting the pivotal role of the District Magistrate’s office, she noted that it serves as the primary government interface for citizens in every district, handling the bulk of public interactions.

In a move to enhance citizen engagement, Gupta directed the installation of ‘Complaint and Suggestion Boxes’ at all DM, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), and Sub-Registrar offices citywide. These boxes will allow residents to submit written complaints and suggestions easily. To ensure effective follow-up, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) will monitor and evaluate all submissions, guaranteeing that no complaint goes unnoticed and that timely action is taken.

Furthering her vision of accessible governance, Gupta announced plans to establish ‘Mini Secretariats’ in every district. These secretariats will provide citizens with a one-stop center for services related to revenue, public grievances, registration, certificates, and licenses. The CM directed all District Magistrates to identify suitable land and submit detailed proposals for setting up these facilities. She underscored that these mini secretariats would significantly streamline public service delivery by bringing multiple departments under one roof.

CM Gupta reiterated that public satisfaction, transparency, and accountability are the true measures of development and are the government’s highest priorities. She instructed officials to ensure that all necessary resources and facilities are available to DDC chairpersons to enable effective resolution of public grievances and issues.

“The objective is to build an administrative system that is transparent, accountable, and citizen-friendly,” Gupta stated firmly.

The meeting also included presentations by newly appointed DDC chairpersons who shared their perspectives and suggestions. An in-depth discussion followed on future development initiatives, with a focus on improving infrastructure and governance.

Rekha Gupta took a strong stance against corruption, highlighting that the previous government had displayed severe negligence in addressing public grievances. She accused the former administration of allowing many issues to remain unaddressed or inadequately resolved. Contrasting this, the current government, she said, is committed to ensuring accountability and will not tolerate any negligence moving forward.

To reinforce administrative discipline, Gupta ordered that attendance by nominated officers from all relevant departments will be mandatory at all future DDC meetings. Officers absent without valid reasons will face strict disciplinary action. “Serving the people is our foremost duty, and the entire administrative machinery must be responsive, sensitive, and accountable,” CM Gupta asserted, concluding the meeting with a call for dedicated and transparent governance.
