More than 60 per cent of eligible voters in Delhi exercised their franchise in the assembly elections on Wednesday, according to the Election Commission’s Voter Turnout app, which last updated figures at 11:30 p.m.
The final turnout is yet to be officially declared as updates continue on the commission’s digital platform. Polling took place across all 70 constituencies from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., with approximately 15.6 million registered voters eligible to cast their ballots.
As of late Wednesday night, the voter turnout stood at 60.44 per cent. The highest participation was recorded in the Northeast district, where 66.25 per cent of voters turned out. The lowest was in the Southeast district, registering 56.16 per cent.
Among individual constituencies, Mustafabad recorded the highest voter turnout at 69 per cent, while Mehrauli had the lowest at 53.04 per cent.
Other districts reported varied participation levels, with Shahdara at 63.94 per cent, Southwest Delhi at 61.09 per cent, Northwest Delhi at 60.70 per cent, North Delhi at 59.55 per cent, Central Delhi at 59.09 per cent, and Southeast Delhi at 56.26 per cent, according to official data.
Voting took place at 13,766 polling stations across the capital, determining the electoral fate of 699 candidates.
In the 2020 assembly elections, Delhi had recorded a voter turnout of 62.59 per cent. In contrast, only 56 per cent of voters participated in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The final figures are expected to be confirmed by the Election Commission in the coming hours.
