Continuing their strike for the eighth consecutive day, doctors have decided to offer elective outpatient services outside Nirman Bhawan on Monday.
The strike, which began on August 12, is in protest against the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at a state-run hospital in Kolkata.
Resident doctors from various hospitals, including All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Safdarjung Hospital, and others, will provide elective services in approximately 36 specialties.
These include medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, ophthalmology, and orthopaedics. Despite the ongoing strike, emergency services at hospitals will continue uninterrupted.
The action committee, formed on August 15, comprises members from multiple medical institutions including AIIMS, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, and Lady Hardinge Medical College.
The committee had initially restricted protests to medical college campuses but expanded to street demonstrations starting Friday.
A resident doctor from Safdarjung Hospital expressed frustration over the lack of government response regarding the implementation of the Central Protection Act for medics.
"We are still waiting for a concrete response from the government. Our strike will continue indefinitely until our demands are addressed," the doctor said.
