An interstate fake visa and overseas job scam that allegedly cheated hundreds of job-seekers by promising lucrative employment opportunities in countries like Russia, Turkey and Azerbaijan has been uncovered by the Delhi Police, an official said on Wednesday.

Three members of the syndicate involved in deceiving unsuspecting job aspirants have been arrested. The accused have been identified as Salauddin Mansuri (38), a resident of Siwan in Bihar; Md Shahzad (34) from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh; and Kaushar (32) from Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh.

According to police, the group lured victims with promises of high-paying jobs abroad and defrauded them by issuing forged visa documents for the aforementioned countries.

The crackdown followed specific intelligence inputs about a fake visa racket targeting job seekers. “A coordinated raid was carried out near Netaji Subhash Place in Pitampura, leading to the arrest of the three accused,” a senior police officer said.

Investigations revealed that the accused operated under a fictitious firm named Saba Enterprises and posed as recruitment agents. Mansuri allegedly impersonated an HR manager using a fake identity to win the confidence of victims.

The syndicate used social media platforms to advertise overseas job openings. Victims were asked to submit their passports, which were then scanned and misused to create fake visas carrying forged stamps.

“They also circulated fabricated verification links along with tentative or cancelled air tickets to make the documents appear authentic. Victims realised the fraud only after discovering no visa stamps on their original passports and invalid tickets,” the officer added.

Police further said the accused frequently shifted their base across cities such as Kolkata, Noida, Gorakhpur and Patna to evade detection, operating in a coordinated manner with clearly defined roles.

During the operation, authorities recovered five original passports belonging to victims, seven mobile phones containing fake visa data, job offer letters and e-tickets, along with cash and several identification and debit cards, including an Aadhaar card under a false name.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the BNS. The accused were produced before a court in Rohini, which granted police custody for further questioning.

Further investigations are underway to identify additional victims, trace financial transactions, and apprehend the alleged mastermind, who remains absconding.
