A Delhi Police Head Constable and his wife were found dead inside their flat in Narela on Saturday after police received information about a house that was locked from within.
The PCR call was received at around 1 pm under the jurisdiction of Narela Police Station. Police reached the flat and, with the help of the Fire Brigade, entered the premises. The bodies of two people were found in the same room.
The deceased were identified as Head Constable Monu, aged around 40 years, and his wife Meenu, aged 35 years. Monu was posted in North District.
Teams from the Forensic Science Laboratory, Crime Team and senior police officers examined the spot. The bodies were sent to Raja Harish Chandra Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Legal proceedings have been initiated, while further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events that led to the deaths.
Woman dies after alleged shooting in Tigri
In a separate incident, a 30-year-old woman died after her husband allegedly shot her during an altercation in Delhi’s Tigri area.
Police received a PCR call at around 8 am on Thursday about a woman suffering from a gunshot injury. The woman was found with a bullet wound to her abdomen and was taken to a hospital, where she was declared brought dead.
Preliminary inquiry indicated that Poonam and her husband Kamlesh had been involved in an altercation. Police said Kamlesh was allegedly under the influence of liquor at the time.
During the confrontation, Kamlesh allegedly pulled out a country-made pistol and fired a shot while threatening to kill himself and his wife. Poonam sustained the gunshot injury in the incident.
Kamlesh was apprehended at the scene, and the weapon allegedly used in the offence was recovered. A case has been registered, and further investigation is in progress.
