The Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has served a notice to Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar in connection with its investigation into the National Herald case. The communication, sent from the office of the Assistant Commissioner of Police and signed by Inspector Ramkesh, directs Shivakumar to appear for questioning in Delhi on or before December 19.
Investigators believe Shivakumar has crucial information related to the case, prompting the issuance of the notice.
As part of the probe into the financial transactions linked to the National Herald matter, the EOW has demanded comprehensive details regarding monetary contributions and transfers made to Young Indian (YI) by Shivakumar, his associates, or any related firms or entities.
An explanation regarding the purpose behind the bank transfers to Young Indian.
"Details of communication in black and white, electronic, emails between him and Young Indian or any other person/stakeholders related to AICC or otherwise."
Clarification on whose request Shivakumar or his associated organisations made the payments categorised as donations.
Identification of the source of the funds used.
Officials also believe that Shivakumar holds relevant insights tied to the FIR filed on October 3rd against senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
Both Shivakumar and his brother, DK Suresh, had previously donated ₹2.5 crore personally to Young Indian. Sources indicate that an additional ₹2.5 crore was contributed through trusts which are associated with Shivakumar.
The Enforcement Directorate had previously questioned the brothers regarding these transactions. The latest notice from the Delhi Police now seeks further clarification and requires the Deputy CM to appear for an official inquiry.
