Ahead of the 76th Republic Day celebrations in 2025, defence personnel took part in a full-dress rehearsal at Kartavya Path in New Delhi on Sunday. This rehearsal is an essential part of the preparations for the grand event, which will take place on January 25, 2025.
The rehearsals allow personnel to practise their movements and ensure the smooth execution of the Republic Day Parade.
As the Republic Day approaches, Delhi Police have stepped up their security measures across the city. With the festive season around the corner, including New Year’s Eve and Republic Day, the authorities are keen to ensure the safety and well-being of the public.
Increased patrolling and heightened security have been put in place in markets and crowded areas to prevent any potential threats.
DCP South, Ankit Chauhan, explained to the media that senior officers are patrolling the streets every evening, accompanied by an enhanced team of officers to oversee the security measures. They are also closely monitoring the markets to ensure that people feel secure as they go about their daily routines.
Tenant and servant verification has also been increased, particularly with the Republic Day festivities approaching.
Chauhan further stated that a dedicated social media monitoring cell has been set up in South Delhi to keep an eye on fake news and to prevent any disruptive information from spreading. These measures are part of an extensive effort to maintain public safety during this important time.
Republic Day, celebrated on January 26 each year, commemorates the adoption of India’s constitution in 1950 and the country’s transition to a republic.
The Republic Day Parade is one of the most anticipated events in India, where states, union territories, and various ministries showcase their tableaux. These tableaux are an artistic representation of the region’s culture, heritage, and achievements.
For Republic Day 2025, the theme for the tableaux has been chosen as “Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas” (Golden India: Heritage and Development). This theme reflects India’s rich history and its continuous growth and development over the years.
A total of 15 states and union territories will participate in the Republic Day parade by displaying their tableaux along Kartavya Path.
These states and union territories include Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chandigarh, Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
The tableaux are not only a highlight of the Republic Day celebrations but also a powerful display of India’s diversity, history, and progress.
As the country gears up for these celebrations, the increased security measures in place ensure that people can enjoy the festivities with peace of mind, knowing that their safety is a top priority.
