Diljit's concert: Security, traffic arrangements in place

To accommodate spectators, five designated parking areas have been set up, with shuttle buses taking spectators to the venue.

The Union Territory of Chandigarh gears up for Diljit Dosanjh's concert today with the security and traffic arrangements put in place. The much-awaited concert will be held at Exhibition Ground in Sector 34, Chandigarh.

 

Several roads near the event venue will be closed or diverted from 4 pm onwards to prevent traffic disruptions. Commuters are advised to avoid the roads in the vicinity of the event venue, including the dividing road between Sectors 33 and 34, Piccadilly Chowk (Sector 20/21-33/34 Chowk), and New Labour Chowk (Sector 20/21-33/34 Chowk).

 

Traffic diversions will also be in place from Gaushala Chowk (Sector-44/45/50/51) towards Faidan or Kajheri Chowk, from Sector-44/45 light point towards South End or Guru Dwara Chowk, and from Bhawan Vidyalaya School T-Point towards Sector-33/45 Chowk.

 

Shuttle buses to ferry spectators:

 

To accommodate spectators, five designated parking areas have been set up, with shuttle buses taking spectators to the venue. These parking areas are: Sector 17 multilevel parking and adjacent lots, Dussehra Ground in Sector 43, the ground opposite Laxmi Narayan Mandir in Sector 44, Dussehra Ground in Sector 45, and Mandi Ground in Sector 29.

 

Comply with noise pollution regulations: Punjab and Haryana HC

 

Punjab and Haryana High Court has allowed singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh's event scheduled to take place here Saturday evening, with a direction that he comply with the noise pollution regulations.

 

While greenlighting the event on Friday, a division bench of Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Anil Kshetarpal directed that ambient air quality standards for noise be strictly maintained.

 

"Looking to the preparation made by the official respondents as well as the private respondent, the Court has no hesitation in allowing the event to take place subject to ambient air quality standards in respect of noise are maintained at a maximum limit of 75 dB(A) at the boundary of the public place where the event is to be held.

 

"In case the noise level increases beyond 75 db(A), then the official respondents are directed to take penal action against the organizers as prescribed by the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control Rules) 2000," the court ordered.

 

The court was hearing a PIL filed by a Chandigarh resident, who sought directions to the Union Territory administration on the management of public events at Sector 34 exhibition ground.
