SP to counter BJP conspiracy in Milkipur by-election.

The Samajwadi Party (SP) Member of Parliament, Dimple Yadav, has levelled serious accusations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the lead-up to the upcoming by-election in the Milkipur constituency.

Yadav claims that the BJP has masterminded a “well-planned conspiracy” to defeat the SP in the by-poll.

Speaking to the media, Dimple Yadav asserted that the BJP was plotting to ensure the defeat of the SP in Milkipur. She expressed optimism, however, about the party’s chances, stating, “I am hopeful that the Samajwadi Party will put an end to all these conspiracies and win this by-election.” Her statement underlined the SP's resolve to face the BJP's alleged attempts to manipulate the electoral process.

In the same vein, SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav weighed in, calling the Milkipur by-election the “biggest election” and emphasising the need for transparency in the process.

Yadav declared, “In Milkipur, not any person, but PDA representative is contesting. This by-election will be the biggest election in the history of by-elections in the country.”

His call for global attention to the election was not just an invitation to journalists, but also a plea to renowned scholars to conduct a “case study” of the event, highlighting the party's focus on ensuring the election is conducted fairly.

Akhilesh Yadav took it a step further, urging the Uttar Pradesh government to make the Milkipur election an example of transparency. He remarked, “We want the Uttar Pradesh government to make this by-election an example of transparent election and invite everyone.”

He framed the Milkipur contest as a showdown between the PDA and the “corrupt system” of the BJP, further intensifying the stakes of this electoral battle.

The Milkipur by-poll became necessary following the resignation of the Samajwadi Party’s Awadhesh Prasad after he was elected to the Lok Sabha from Faizabad in the previous general election. Consequently, the by-poll is set to take place on February 5, with vote counting scheduled for February 8.

In the wake of these developments, Uttar Pradesh Congress President, Ajay Rai, extended full support to the Samajwadi Party candidate for the Milkipur by-election.

He confirmed that the Congress would back the SP in this election as part of the INDIA alliance. Rai remarked, “It is the work of the BJP to misuse government machinery to win elections, but the people of Milkipur will teach them a lesson this time.”

The Congress has opted not to field its own candidate for Milkipur and has instead announced its support for the SP candidate. For its part, the SP has nominated Ajit Prasad, the son of the late Awadhesh Prasad, to contest the election.

The BJP, on the other hand, has put forward Chandrabhan Paswan as their candidate for the seat. Paswan submitted his nomination earlier in the month, marking the official start of the campaign for the BJP.

Amid these political manoeuvrings, the Samajwadi Party has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh, demanding that all 414 polling stations in the Milkipur constituency be webcasted.

This request is designed to ensure transparency and fairness in the electoral process. The SP has also asked that the webcasting link be made available to the candidates and recognised political parties, so they can monitor the voting process and make sure that the election remains free and fair.
