DK Shivakumar aide alleges shoe assault by CM Siddaramaiah's officer.

A verbal spat at Karnataka Bhavan in New Delhi has escalated into a full-blown controversy after H Anjaneya, special officer to Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, filed a formal complaint alleging that he was assaulted with a shoe by C Mohan Kumar, assistant resident commissioner and special officer to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

The incident reportedly took place inside the Bhavan premises, where the two officers are posted on official duty. In his complaint to resident commissioner Imkongla Jamir, Anjaneya claimed that the alleged assault has caused him humiliation and demanded criminal action against Kumar.

“I was beaten with a shoe, and it has hurt my honour and dignity. Conduct a criminal trial against him (Kumar) and give me justice,” Anjaneya stated in his letter, according to a news agency.

Jamir confirmed that the complaint has been received. “We have received the complaint dated July 22. Due process will be followed,” Jamir was quoted as saying.

Anjaneya, who holds the rank of Group B officer, further alleged that Kumar has repeatedly obstructed him from carrying out his duties as special officer to the deputy chief minister. He claimed the incident took place in Kumar’s office chamber in front of other staff.

“He threatened to hit me with a shoe in the chamber of the office in front of everyone,” Anjaneya wrote in the complaint.

Citing safety concerns, Anjaneya stated, “If any accident happens, Kumar will be responsible.”

He also mentioned Kumar’s alleged history of misconduct, claiming, “If you look into the service books in the past, he has beaten MM Joshi and not given respect to senior officers and behaved with ego as special officer on duty for CM.”

Anjaneya added that he had previously requested a transfer from Karnataka Bhavan to avoid confrontations while serving in his current post.

The resident commissioner’s office has assured that the matter will be handled according to official procedure. An investigation is expected to follow to determine the veracity of the allegations.
