Delhi Chief Minister and AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal has announced his decision to resign as Delhi chief minister, after being released on bail in the Delhi Excise Policy case.
Reacting to the development, social worker Anna Hazare said: “I told him from the beginning that you should not join politics but serve the people. We have worked together for many years and told him the same thing. He never listened to me and today what had to happen has happened,” says social activist Anna Hazare on Kejriwal's recent decision.
Speaking to the media from his hometown in Ralegan-Siddhi, Hazare remembered the days when he and Kejriwal were together against the anti-corruption movement led by the social activist.
He said, “I repeatedly told Kejriwal not to go into politics. Serve society, and you will become a great man. We were together for many years, and during that time, I often told him that social service gives happiness.”
Hazare continued, “Increase happiness, but he did not take those words to heart. Today, what was bound to happen has happened. How would I know what is truly in his heart?"
Significantly, this is not the first time that Hazare had reacted to development concerning Kejriwal.
Earlier, the social activist had expressed his disappointment on Kejriwal’s arrest in the Delhi Excise Policy case.
