Dr Ajit Ratnakar Joshi has been appointed as an Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), effective from 3 March 2025.
In his new role, he will oversee the Department of Statistics and Information Management as well as the Financial Stability Department.
Prior to this promotion, Dr Joshi served as the Principal Adviser in the Department of Statistics and Information Management. He brings with him over three decades of experience in the fields of statistics, information technology, and cyber risk management.
Beyond his contributions to the RBI, Dr Joshi has been actively engaged in academia.
He has served as a faculty member at the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology in Hyderabad.
Additionally, he has participated in various committees and working groups dedicated to macroeconomic statistics and policy matters.
Dr Joshi holds a master’s degree in statistics from Nagpur University and a PhD in monetary economics from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.
He has further enhanced his qualifications with a Diploma in Development Policy and Planning from the Institute of Economic Growth in Delhi.
He is also a certified associate of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (CAIIB).
