External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar extended a warm welcome to German Members of Parliament Jurgen Hardt and Ralph Brinkhaus during their visit to India. The meeting took place in Delhi and served as an opportunity for the Indian Minister to discuss the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two nations.
In his post on X, Jaishankar expressed his appreciation for the German MPs' steadfast support in enhancing ties between India and Germany. He highlighted their discussions on regional developments and mutual interests. This visit underscores the ongoing commitment of both countries to deepen their diplomatic and economic cooperation.
The visit follows a significant event hosted by the German Embassy in India on August 12. In partnership with Fraunhofer, the embassy organised a conference titled "Sustainability: The Technology Imperative for Our Future: German Innovations in India." Held in New Delhi, this conference was a pivotal moment in advancing technological and sustainable innovation collaborations between India and Germany.
The conference featured prominent German industry leaders and included a knowledge paper that marked a milestone in the relationship. The document, titled "From India to the World: How India Can Transform into a Global Product Development and Innovation Hub," was co-authored by Anandi Iyer from Fraunhofer India, Soumya Gopinathan from Mercedes Benz Research Development India, and Dr Fabian Hecklau from Fraunhofer Institute of Production Systems and Design Technology, Berlin. It provides a detailed analysis of how India can harness its capabilities to emerge as a global leader in product development and technological innovation.
Additionally, on August 13, German Ambassador Phillip Ackerman attended the joint military exercise Tarang Shakti in Silur, Tamil Nadu. This exercise marked the first instance of German forces participating in drills with India, alongside NATO partners France, Spain, and the UK.
Ambassador Ackerman praised the integration and cooperation displayed during the exercise, emphasising the significance of such joint efforts in ensuring a secure and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.
Overall, these events reflect the growing collaboration between India and Germany, highlighting advancements in both technological and military spheres.
