The Election Commission of India's (ECI) release of electoral bond information reveals that 333 individuals purchased bonds totalling Rs 358.91 crore from April 2019 to January 2024.
According to a report by Indian Express, among these individuals, 15 are prominent corporate figures holding significant positions. These 15 individuals accounted for Rs 158.65 crore or 44.2% of the total.

Laxmidas Vallabhdas Merchant (Reliance Life Sciences): Rs 25 crore
Rahul Bhatia (IndiGo): Rs 20 crore
Inder Thakurdas Jaisinghani (Polycab Group of Companies): Rs 14 crore
Rajesh Mannalal Agarwal (Ajanta Pharma Limited): Rs 13 crore
Harmesh Rahul Joshi & Rahul Jagannath Joshi (Om Freight Group of companies): Rs 10 crore each
Kiran Mazumdar Shaw (Biocon): Rs 6 crore
Indrani Patnaik: Rs 5 crore
Sudhakar Kancharla (Yoda Group): Rs 5 crore
Abhrajit Mitra (Searock Infraproject Private Limited): Rs 4.25 crore
Sarojit Kumar Dey (JD Agro Development Private Limited): Rs 3.4 crore
Dilip Ramanlal Thacker (Samudra Real Estate Private Limited; Jade Minerals & Mines Private Limited): Rs 3 crore
Prakash Balwant Mengane (Shreenath Stapatya India Private Limited): Rs 3 crore
Nirmal Kumar Bathwal (Penguin Trading & Agencies Limited): Rs 2 crore
The Election Commission's data, disclosed on Sunday, revealed that Santiago Martin's Future Gaming, renowned for lottery ventures, emerged as the top buyer of electoral bonds, amounting to Rs 1,368 crore. Approximately 37% of this sum was directed towards the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).
These specifics pertain to transactions conducted before April 12, 2019.
Electoral bond details after this date were made public by the EC last week.
The company donated Rs 509 crore through electoral bonds to Tamil Nadu's ruling party, the DMK. Other notable donors to the DMK included Megha Engineering, with Rs 105 crore; India Cements, with Rs 14 crore; and Sun TV, with Rs 100 crore.
According to the data, the BJP has emerged as the top recipient of funds through electoral bonds since their introduction in 2018, totalling Rs 6,986.5 crore. Following closely were West Bengal's ruling party, the Trinamool Congress, with Rs 1,397 crore, the Congress with Rs 1,334 crore, and BRS with Rs 1,322 crore.
