The Election Commission of India (ECI) is set to organise a two-day conference with Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) from all States and Union Territories on March 4-5, 2025.
The event will be held at the India International Institute of Democracy & Election Management in New Delhi.
This will be the first such conference since Shri Gyanesh Kumar took over as the Chief Election Commissioner. For the first time, the CEOs have been directed to nominate a District Election Officer (DEO) and an Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) to participate.
These officials play crucial roles at the state, district, and assembly constituency levels in the electoral process.
The conference will serve as a platform for discussions, knowledge-sharing, and mutual learning among election officials from across the country.
On the first day, key aspects of modern election management will be discussed, including IT infrastructure, effective communication, social media engagement, and the statutory responsibilities of electoral functionaries.
On the second day, the CEOs will present their action plans based on the discussions from the previous sessions. This exchange of ideas and strategies is expected to enhance electoral management and preparedness for future elections.
