Poll body to announce pan-India SIR dates tomorrow, 10-15 states likely in first phase.
The Election Commission (EC) will announce the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in several states on October 27, officials said on Sunday.
The briefing is scheduled for 4:15 pm and is expected to be led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
While the poll body’s media invite did not explicitly mention the topic, officials confirmed that the press conference would focus on the SIR schedule, according to a report.

Full details are yet to be released, but the EC is expected to unveil the first phase of the SIR, covering 10 to 15 states, including those slated for Assembly elections in 2026.
States likely to be included in the first phase are Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry, which are scheduled to go to the polls next year.
Bihar, which recently completed its voter list update, has released the final electoral roll featuring nearly 7.42 crore names as of September 30. The state will hold Assembly elections in two phases on November 6 and 11, with counting scheduled for November 14.
