Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday slammed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for using pressure tactics to break the Aam Aadmi Party, currently ruling the state. He made these comments after the ED raided Punjab Minister Sanjeev Arora’s residence for the third time amid an ongoing probe.
Mann asserted that the Punjab government will not bow down to any pressure tactics.
According to sources, over half a dozen vehicles belonging to the ED were parked outside the residence of Sanjeev Arora during the operation. This is the third raid at Arora’s Chandigarh residence.
The fresh raids came amid allegations of foreign exchange violations. Earlier on April 17, the ED had raided multiple residences and workplaces linked to the minister over alleged foreign exchange violations.
The raid also comes at a time when ED action continues in the Kharar area at a flat linked to liaison agent Nitin Gohal at Western Towers.
In a post on X, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann reacted strongly to the ED raids at Arora’s residence, stating, “It was the third time in a year and the second time in a month that such action had been taken.”
He added that despite repeated raids, nothing had been found so far.
In a strongly worded statement, he said, “Punjab is the land of Gurus and Bhagat Singh," and it would not bow down.
He called out Prime Minister Narendra Modi and described the raids as an “ED-BJP alliance” aimed at breaking the party.
