According to the Ministry, the campaign, themed "Peoples' Action for Water Conservation – Towards Intensified Community Connect," seeks to highlight the importance of water security, rainwater harvesting, and groundwater recharge, especially in the wake of climate change and growing water challenges.
The initiative will be implemented across 148 districts, fostering synergy among government agencies, local communities, and stakeholders to ensure the sustainable management of water resources.
Aimed at reinforcing the message that "Every Drop Counts," the Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain – 2025 will drive awareness and grassroots participation in water conservation efforts nationwide.
The campaign calls upon citizens to actively contribute to securing India's water future through innovative and practical solutions.
World Water Day, observed annually on March 22 since 1993, is a United Nations initiative that highlights the significance of freshwater.
A key objective of the observance is to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 6—ensuring universal access to water and sanitation by 2030.
