Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday issued a stark warning to Pakistan, declaring that every inch of its territory lies within range of India’s BrahMos missiles and that Operation Sindoor was merely a glimpse of India’s military prowess.

Addressing a gathering in Lucknow after flagging off the first batch of BrahMos missiles manufactured at the BrahMos Aerospace unit in Sarojini Nagar, Singh said, “Every inch of Pakistan's territory lies within range of BrahMos. What happened during Operation Sindoor was just a trailer. It made Pakistan realise that if India could create Pakistan, then if the time comes... I need not say more, you all are wise enough.”

The Defence Minister, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, said the BrahMos missile symbolises India’s growing strategic confidence and military self-reliance. “BrahMos is not just a missile, it is proof of India's strategic confidence. From the Army to the Navy and the Air Force, it has become a key pillar of our defence forces,” he said.

Operation Sindoor, Singh emphasised, was evidence that “victory is not just a small incident for us but it has become a habit.” He added that the mission had instilled “a new confidence among Indians” and proved the effectiveness of the supersonic cruise missile to the world.

Under Operation Sindoor, Indian forces had targeted terror infrastructure and defence installations in Pakistan in May following the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, which killed 26 people. Indigenously developed BrahMos missiles were reportedly used to destroy key Pakistani air bases.

“The entire world now recognises India's capability. BrahMos has strengthened our belief that India can turn its dreams into reality,” Singh said, urging the defence community to sustain the confidence born from the operation.

Speaking about the indigenous missile production at the Lucknow unit, Singh described it as a reflection of India’s technological and industrial progress. “Lucknow is not just my parliamentary constituency, it resides in my soul. Today, it has become a city of technology and industry, apart from culture and tradition,” he said, adding that the success of the BrahMos project represented “patience, hard work and determination.”

Chief Minister Adityanath hailed the development as a major step forward for Uttar Pradesh and India’s Make in India initiative. “Under the Defence Industrial Corridor, Uttar Pradesh is emerging as a major hub of indigenous defence manufacturing. The BrahMos unit is a shining example of that,” he said.

“With a missile like BrahMos, India is now not only able to meet its own security needs but also those of its allies in the world,” Adityanath added, stressing that his government would continue supporting projects that strengthen national security while creating new employment opportunities and technical expertise.

An official statement said Saturday’s event marked a significant milestone for the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC) and would energise India’s pursuit of self-reliance in defence manufacturing. The BrahMos Aerospace unit, inaugurated on May 11, houses advanced facilities for missile integration, testing, and quality assurance before deployment with the Indian armed forces.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, and several senior officials were present at the event.
