An explosion near a popular bar in Chandigarh’s Sector 26, owned by rapper Badshah, created panic in the early hours of Tuesday.
The incident occurred between 2.30 and 2.45 a.m. when two unidentified suspects on a motorcycle reportedly hurled a low-intensity explosive outside the club, shattering window panes and causing minor structural damage.
The bar, identified as Sevillee Bar and Lounge, is located near another establishment, De’orra, which also sustained minor damages from the impact. Both clubs are situated approximately 30 meters apart. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.
Upon receiving the report, Chandigarh Police swiftly arrived at the scene to secure the area and begin their investigation.
Specialized teams, including the bomb detection squad and experts from the Chandigarh Forensic Science Laboratory, were deployed to collect evidence and examine the nature of the explosive used.
Authorities suspect the device may have been a crude homemade bomb, potentially used in an extortion attempt. While some sources described the explosive as a crude bomb, police have refrained from confirming this categorization, stating that the matter is still under investigation.
Local residents and business owners expressed concern over the incident, emphasizing the need for heightened security in the area.
The police are currently working to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive behind the act. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
