The battle for the Baramati Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra is set to become a family affair as Sunetra Pawar, the wife of Ajit Pawar, will take on Supriya Sule, the sitting MP from the seat since 2009, in the upcoming elections.
This announcement came as the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Ajit Pawar, officially declared Sunetra Pawar as their candidate for the constituency.
The decision was made public by Jayant Patil, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party-Sharad Chandra Pawar, who also announced the names of candidates for four other seats in Maharashtra. The candidates include Amar Kale for Wardha, Bhaskarrao Bagre for Dindori, Amol Kolhe for Shirur, and Nilesh Lanke for Ahmednagar.

She thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Ajit Pawar for their support and faith in her.
The Lok Sabha polls in Maharashtra are scheduled to be held in five phases on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, and May 20, with the counting of votes set for June 4.
With 48 Lok Sabha seats, Maharashtra holds significant electoral influence and plays a crucial role in shaping national politics. In the 2019 elections, the BJP emerged as the largest party in the state with 23 seats, followed by the Shiv Sena with 18 seats.
The upcoming contest in Baramati between Supriya Sule and Sunetra Pawar adds an intriguing familial dynamic to the electoral landscape of Maharashtra, setting the stage for an intense battle for political supremacy in the region.
