All primary routes leading to Delhi are currently obstructed, as per an advisory issued by Delhi Airport on Monday in anticipation of the farmers' protest scheduled for February 13 in the national capital. The advisory notified air travellers about traffic diversions due to the ongoing farmers' protest at various Delhi borders starting Tuesday.

In a statement, the airport authorities mentioned that traffic restrictions and diversions for commercial vehicles would be enforced from February 12, 2024. They recommended travellers to plan their journeys accordingly, staying informed about potential delays and considering alternative routes.

Around 200 farmer unions, predominantly from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab, have declared a 'March to Delhi' to advocate for a law ensuring a minimum support price (MSP) for crops. In response, Delhi and Haryana have implemented traffic restrictions, including the imposition of Section 144 in several areas.

Haryana has enforced Section 144 in 15 districts, prohibiting gatherings of five or more people and banning demonstrations or marches involving tractor trolleys. In Delhi, traffic restrictions are in effect, and heightened security measures are in place at the Singhu, Ghazipur, and Tikri borders.

Concrete blocks and iron nails have been used to fortify the borders, preventing vehicles carrying protesters from entering the city. These measures have disrupted traffic in the border areas of Delhi, causing inconvenience to commuters.

An advisory indicates that traffic restrictions for commercial vehicles began at the Singhu border on Monday, extending to all vehicle types from Tuesday onwards. Over 5,000 security personnel, along with cranes and earthmovers carrying large containers, have been deployed by the police to ensure security.

Multiple security barricades have been installed at the borders to deter farmers from entering the national capital. Nails have been strategically placed on roads to puncture the tyres of vehicles attempting to breach the barriers. Additionally, Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) has been enforced in the northeast district of Delhi to uphold law and order.
