The Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan) will on Saturday hold dharnas outside the residences of three senior BJP leaders in Punjab on the fifth day of the farmers' protest over their various demands, including a legal guarantee for MSP.

Apart from holding dharnas outside the homes of former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh, the BJP's Punjab unit chief Sunil Jakhar and senior leader Kewal Singh Dhillon, the union will also hold protests at toll plazas in the state, extending support to the farmers' "Delhi Chalo" call.

On the fifth day of their "Delhi Chalo" march -- called by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha -- the farmers stayed put at the two border points of Punjab and Haryana as they pressed the Centre to accept their demands, including a legal guarantee of a Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops.

The farmers from Punjab began their march to Delhi on Tuesday but were stopped by security personnel at the Shambhu and the Khanauri points of Punjab's border with Haryana. The protesters have stayed put at the two border points since then.

The Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan) is set to hold protests outside the residences of three senior BJP leaders in Punjab on Saturday, marking the fifth day of the farmers' protest over various demands, including a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP).

In addition to staging protests outside the homes of former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh, the BJP's Punjab unit chief Sunil Jakhar, and senior leader Kewal Singh Dhillon, the union will also demonstrate at toll plazas in the state, in support of the farmers' "Delhi Chalo" initiative.

On the fifth day of their "Delhi Chalo" march, organized by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, the farmers remained stationed at the two border points of Punjab and Haryana, pressing the Centre to meet their demands, which include a legal guarantee of MSP for crops.

Farmers from Punjab began their march to Delhi on Tuesday but were halted by security personnel at the Shambhu and Khanauri points on the Punjab-Haryana border. The protesters have maintained their position at these border points since then.

The Bhartiya Kisan Union (Charuni), led by Gurnam Singh Charuni and based in Haryana, will conduct a tractor rally on Saturday in solidarity with the protesting farmers.

On Sunday, Union ministers Arjun Munda, Piyush Goyal, and Nityanand Rai, along with farmer leaders, are scheduled for the fourth round of talks. Previous discussions on February 8, 12, and 15 failed to resolve.

The Haryana Police released video clips on Friday, purportedly showing farmers pelting stones and attempting to provoke security personnel at the Shambhu border. The police claimed that a "ruckus" cannot be allowed under the guise of the farmers' movement, stating that 25 security personnel were injured in clashes.

Farm leaders leading the "Delhi Chalo" movement alleged that Haryana security personnel used "force" against the protesters, including tear gas shells and rubber bullets, resulting in numerous injuries.

A 63-year-old farmer, part of the protesters at the Shambhu border, died of a heart attack on Friday. Gian Singh, from Punjab's Gurdaspur district, experienced chest pain and was declared dead at Rajindra Hospital in Patiala.

Protesting farmers paid tribute to Singh. Additionally, a 52-year-old police sub-inspector stationed at the Shambhu border died on Friday. Hira Lal, from the Haryana Railway Police, experienced a sudden decline in health while on duty.

Farm leader Sarwan Singh Pandher accused the Centre on Friday of attempting to "suppress" the voices of protesters, claiming the suspension of social media accounts belonging to farmers and YouTubers.

Alongside the demand for a legal guarantee for MSP, farmers are advocating for the implementation of the Swaminathan Commission's recommendations, pension for farmers and farm labourers, farm debt waiver, no increase in electricity tariff, withdrawal of police cases, "justice" for the victims of the 2021 Lakhimpur Kheri violence, reinstatement of the Land Acquisition Act - 2013, and compensation for families of farmers who died in the previous agitation in 2020-21.
