The Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA) recently met with Union Health Minister J P Nadda to address concerns surrounding medical education, particularly the postponement of the NEET-PG exam.
The meeting took place on Saturday, where representatives from FORDA expressed their apprehensions and sought clarity on the rescheduling of the exam.
During the discussion, FORDA emphasised the urgency of announcing new exam dates. They stressed the importance of conducting the NEET-PG exams transparently and efficiently.
The exam, initially scheduled for June 23, was postponed at the last minute as a precautionary measure due to recent allegations questioning the integrity of some competitive exams.
In response, Minister Nadda reassured the delegation that the government is committed to the welfare of students and is working diligently to improve the current system.
He stated that the reasons behind the postponement are being thoroughly addressed, and new dates for the exam will be announced shortly. Nadda emphasised that the ministry is focused on ensuring the exams are conducted fairly and without further complications.
Apart from the postponement of the NEET-PG exam, the FORDA delegation also brought up other significant issues that have been pending since before the Lok Sabha elections.
These issues are of great concern to the medical community, and FORDA sought the minister's intervention to expedite their resolution. Nadda assured the representatives that further meetings would be held to discuss these matters in detail and to find appropriate solutions.
The FORDA delegation included its President Dr. Aviral Mathur, General Secretary Dr. Sarvesh Pandey, along with Dr. Gautam Sharma from RML, Dr. Sarada from LHMC, Dr. Bharani, Dr. Ayush from VMMC and SJH, and Dr. Meet Ghonia from NITRD. Their collective presence underscored the unified stance of the medical community on these pressing issues.
This meeting marks a critical step in addressing the concerns of resident doctors and ensuring that the medical education system in India is both fair and effective.
The commitment from the Health Minister to resolve these issues promptly is a positive development, and the medical community is hopeful for swift action and clear communication regarding the new NEET-PG exam dates.
The continued dialogue between FORDA and the Health Ministry is expected to yield fruitful results, benefiting medical students and professionals across the country.
