Four workers died and two others were left in a serious condition after a nitrogen gas leak at a pharmaceutical company in Maharashtra’s Palghar district on Thursday, officials said.
The incident took place in the afternoon at Medley Pharma, located in the Tarapur-Boisar industrial area, about 130 kilometres from Mumbai, according to authorities.

Vivekanand Kadam, chief of the Palghar district disaster management cell, said the leak occurred between 2.30 p.m. and 3 p.m. in one of the company’s units, exposing staff working inside.
“Six workers were rushed to hospital, where four of them died around 6.15 p.m.,” Kadam said.
Two other workers were admitted to the intensive care unit at a local hospital, where they remain under treatment, he added.
