In the run-up to the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections, BJP candidate Geeta Koda from the Jagannathpur constituency has pledged to tackle unemployment in the region.
Koda emphasised that unemployment has become a significant issue, forcing many people to migrate in search of better opportunities. She criticised the state government for its lack of attention to this pressing problem and underscored the need for sustainable development to ensure that locals no longer feel compelled to leave their homes.
Speaking with media outlets, Koda reaffirmed her commitment to addressing essential public services such as water, electricity, and other basic amenities. She pointed out that her political efforts have always been grounded in maintaining close contact with the people of the region.
Whether it is water shortages, power outages, or inadequate infrastructure, Koda stated that she and her team have continuously worked to resolve these challenges and improve the quality of life for residents.
Koda also highlighted her vision for improving educational opportunities in Jagannathpur. She mentioned that the area already has institutions like a polytechnic, an Industrial Training Institute (ITI), and a degree college.
She expressed her goal of ensuring that the local youth receive quality education, thereby preparing them for better job prospects and reducing the need for migration. Koda emphasised that empowering the youth through education is crucial for the region’s long-term development.
In her address, Koda expressed gratitude towards the BJP’s national leadership for entrusting her with the responsibility of contesting the Jagannathpur seat once again.
She thanked senior leaders such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President JP Nadda, and Home Minister Amit Shah for their continued support. Despite her loss in the previous assembly elections, Koda’s nomination for this election shows the faith that the party’s leadership has in her abilities and dedication to the people of Jagannathpur.
Koda had switched from the Congress to the BJP prior to the last election, where she ran for the West Singhbhum seat. However, she was defeated by Joba Majhi of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), losing by a significant margin of over 160,000 votes. Nevertheless, the BJP leadership has backed her once more, hoping for a positive outcome in this year's elections.
The Jharkhand Assembly elections will take place in two phases, on November 13 and November 20, with vote counting scheduled for November 23.
As the election approaches, Koda’s promises to address unemployment, improve essential services, and provide quality education will be key factors as she works to win the trust of the electorate in Jagannathpur. Her campaign will focus on these issues to convince voters that the BJP can bring the development needed to improve their lives.
