Renowned classical singer Pankaj Udhas breathed his last on February 26 at the age of 72 after battling a prolonged illness, confirmed by his daughter Nayaab Udhas.

 

Taking to her instagram handle, Udhas’s daughter Nayaab Udhas conveyed the heartbreaking news, stating, "With a heavy heart, we announce the demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas on February 26, 2024, following a prolonged illness."

 

Born on May 17, 1951, in Gujarat, India, Pankaj Udhas garnered widespread acclaim for his soul-stirring renditions of ghazals, earning him the moniker of "Ghazal King." His musical journey spanned numerous albums and extensive performances, both within India and abroad.

 

Udhas's repertoire includes timeless ghazals like "Chitthi Aayi Hai," "Na Kajre Ki Dhar," "Chandi Jaisa Rang Hai Tera," and "Aur Aahista Kijiye Baatein," which resonated deeply with audiences worldwide, solidifying his status as one of the most revered ghazal singers of his era.
