Azad slams Pakistan before hospitalisation.

Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad was admitted to hospital during an all-party delegation's visit to Kuwait, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

Azad, chairman of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), was part of a multi-party delegation visiting several countries in the Gulf region to highlight India’s stance on terrorism and counter disinformation allegedly spread by Pakistan.

BJP MP Baijayant Panda, who is leading the delegation, confirmed the hospitalisation in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating Azad is stable and under medical supervision.

“Halfway into our delegation's tour, Shri @ghulamnazad has had to be admitted to hospital. He is stable, under medical supervision, and will be undergoing some tests and procedures. His contributions to the meetings in Bahrain and Kuwait were highly impactful, and he is disappointed at being bedridden. We will deeply miss his presence in Saudi Arabia and Algeria,” Panda posted.

The delegation, comprising leaders from various political parties, has been visiting key countries as part of a diplomatic outreach to present India’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and to counter Pakistan’s narrative internationally.

Before his hospitalisation, Azad played an active role in meetings in Bahrain and Kuwait, strongly criticising Pakistan for what he described as a “habit” of spreading disinformation.

“Pakistan spreads a lot of disinformation. It is their habit. So, in the meetings that were held today, a lot of questions and answers took place. I think the disinformation which they used to hear have all been done away with,” Azad said, according to remarks quoted by the media agency.

Azad also emphasised national unity, noting that Indian delegations highlighted the country’s diversity and cohesion in their talks with Kuwaiti officials.

“We told them about our country, how everyone lives together with love — Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians. Political parties may debate in Parliament, but when it comes to the nation, we stand united inside and outside the country,” he said.
