In a post shared on X, Sawant confirmed the meeting, saying, "Called on Hon’ble Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah Ji in New Delhi today. Briefed him on various initiatives in the state and sought his guidance."

This meeting is part of Sawant’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Goa’s position in the national political and economic landscape. Earlier, the Chief Minister had met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to discuss Goa’s demands before the 16th Finance Commission.

Specifically, Sawant reiterated the state’s request for a larger share in the devolution of taxes, which is seen as a crucial move to promote the state’s development. The proposal aims to address the financial needs of Goa and facilitate its continued growth.

Sawant also reviewed the maintenance and operations of the canteen at the Veerangana Hostel for girls and directed officials to ensure that the facilities were up to standard.

He highlighted the importance of completing pending works at the hostel and the new PG block at the college. In addition, the Chief Minister expressed a strong desire to improve student placements and ensure the safety and security of students on campus.
