Actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda has been discharged from CritiCare Hospital in Mumbai following a gunshot injury he sustained earlier this month. This incident, which took place on October 1, involved Govinda accidentally shooting himself in the knee while handling his licensed revolver at home.
On Friday afternoon, Govinda made his first public appearance after the incident, where he expressed his gratitude to everyone who had supported him during this challenging time.
Surrounded by family, he spoke to the media from a wheelchair, his leg in a cast. With a heartfelt tone, he thanked well-wishers for their prayers and support.
“I thank everyone for their prayers… I thank CM Shinde, police, and the press. I especially thank my fans for praying so much for me. I thank them from the bottom of my heart for their love,” he stated.
The unfortunate mishap occurred around 4:45 a.m. when Govinda was preparing to leave for Kolkata. According to the Mumbai Police, he was putting his revolver back in a cupboard when it accidentally discharged, resulting in a bullet wound to his knee.
Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, elaborated on the incident, saying, “Govinda was getting ready to leave for Kolkata and was putting his licensed revolver back in the cupboard when it slipped from his hand, and the gun went off, hitting him in the leg. The doctor has removed the bullet, and his condition is stable. He is still in the hospital.”
While in the hospital, Govinda took the time to send a message to his fans, expressing gratitude for their love and prayers. In an audio message, he said, “Hello, this is Govinda. With the blessings of my fans, my parents, and God, I am doing better now. I was hit by a bullet, which has now been removed. I thank the doctor here, Dr. Agarwal ji. I thank all of you for your prayers.”
Following the injury, medical professionals advised Govinda to take adequate rest to facilitate his recovery. Dr. Ramesh Agarwal from Criticare Asia Hospital mentioned that Govinda has been advised to rest for three to four weeks.
He stated, “His exercises and physiotherapy are continuing. He is fine. We are discharging him. He will rest at home.”
In the aftermath of the incident, several celebrities showed their support by visiting Govinda in the hospital. Notable figures like director David Dhawan, veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha, and fellow actors Raveena Tandon and Shilpa Shetty paid visits to inquire about his health. Their presence reflected the camaraderie and support within the film industry during difficult times.
