A deputy commissioner in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Department, Sanjay Singh, allegedly died by suicide in Noida on Monday.
According to the police, he jumped from the 14th floor of his apartment building in Sector 75.
His family informed officials that he had been battling cancer and depression, which may have contributed to his tragic decision.
The incident occurred at Apex Athena Society around 11 a.m. Singh, 59, was found dead at the scene.
The local police, led by Sector 113 station in-charge KG Sharma, confirmed his death and initiated an inquiry.
Family members told the police that Singh had been suffering from cancer, which had taken a toll on his mental health.
They believe his prolonged struggle with the illness led him into depression.
The police have sent his body for a post-mortem examination to determine further details.
Singh is survived by his wife and two sons.
His sudden demise has left his family, colleagues, and acquaintances in deep shock.
The GST department, where he served in Ghaziabad, has also expressed condolences over his passing.
Officials have urged people to seek help when dealing with severe emotional distress and health challenges.
