Anganwadi Workers in Gujarat Celebrate Raksha Bandhan by Sending Rakhis to Soldiers.

In a heartwarming gesture ahead of Raksha Bandhan, over 53,000 Anganwadi workers across Gujarat are set to send more than one lakh rakhis to soldiers stationed at the border.

This initiative, titled “Ek Rakhi Desh Ke Jawano Ke Naam,” aims to connect the soldiers with the love and appreciation of their fellow countrymen during the festival of Raksha Bandhan.

The campaign was launched with a special event where Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Women and Child Welfare Minister Bhanuben Babaria presented Raksha Kalash to Lt. Col. Rakesh Kumar and Sub-Major Santosh Kamte from the 16 Maratha Light Infantry. These officials are tasked with delivering the rakhis to the border soldiers.

This effort reflects a deep sense of gratitude towards the soldiers who endure harsh conditions at the borders, separated from their families. The initiative is designed to make the soldiers feel a connection with their homes and the people they protect, reinforcing the bond of affection between them and their fellow countrymen.

The Anganwadi workers, who play a crucial role in early childhood education and nutrition in Gujarat, have taken up this initiative as a tribute to the soldiers.

Women and Child Development Secretary Shri Rakesh Shankar, I.C.D.S. Commissioner Shri Ranjitkumar Singh, Deputy Secretary Mrs. Kumudben Yagnik, along with Anganwadi workers and supervisors, participated in the event, demonstrating their support and involvement.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel praised the initiative, highlighting the significance of Raksha Bandhan as a festival that celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters. He noted that the soldiers, who are stationed far from their homes and families, will be touched by this gesture.

Patel applauded the Anganwadi sisters for their touching and commendable effort to distribute over one lakh rakhis, which will serve as a symbol of the immense love and respect from the sisters of Gujarat.

Earlier in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor district, schoolgirls celebrated Raksha Bandhan by tying rakhis to army personnel. The festival was marked with joy as the girls performed traditional rituals, including tying rakhis, applying tilak, and offering sweets to the soldiers.

Raksha Bandhan, which falls on August 19 this year, is a traditional Hindu festival dedicated to the bond between brothers and sisters. On this day, sisters tie rakhis around their brothers’ wrists, and in return, brothers give gifts as a sign of their love and care.

This year’s celebration by the Anganwadi workers in Gujarat adds a unique and heartfelt dimension to the festival, strengthening the connection between those who serve and those who support them from home.
