Fresh clash between Security Forces and Terrorists in Kulgam after Pahalgam carnage.

A one senior commander of The Resistance Front (TRF) is believed to be trapped in a gunfight with security forces in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir.

This comes just a day after a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam killed 26 people. The TRF, which is linked to the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for that attack.

Security forces launched the operation based on specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists. The report further said, the gunfight started when police came under heavy fire during the operation. Additional security forces have now been sent to the area to support the ongoing action.

Earlier in the day, the Indian Army stopped an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control in Baramulla district. Two terrorists were killed after a heavy exchange of gunfire. A large number of weapons, ammunition, and Pakistani currency were recovered from the scene.

According to army sources, the operation began when “two to three unidentified terrorists tried to cross over near the Sarjeevan area at Uri Nala.” The army posted on X (formerly Twitter) that alert troops on the LoC intercepted them, leading to a gunfight. The army confirmed that two terrorists were killed and the infiltration attempt was stopped. The operation is still ongoing.

In the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, around 1,500 people have been taken into preventive custody across Jammu and Kashmir for questioning.

Security has been increased throughout the Kashmir Valley. The Indian Army, CRPF, and J&K Police are carrying out joint operations. Additional security checkpoints have been set up along highways and other sensitive locations to ensure safety and monitor movement.
