In the dense forests of Abujhmad in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district, a fierce gunfight erupted on Thursday morning, leading to the death of three female Naxalites. The clash began around 8 a.m. as a joint team of security personnel was conducting an anti-Naxal operation in the area.
The operation, involving the Special Task Force (STF), District Reserve Guard (DRG), and Border Security Force (BSF), was initiated based on intelligence reports about Naxalite activity in the region.
According to Inspector General of Bastar P Sundarraj, the encounter began after the joint police team received information about Maoist presence along the Narayanpur and Kanker border.
As the search operation continued, the security forces engaged in a confrontation with the Naxalites. By the end of the clash, the bodies of three women Naxalites, dressed in uniform and armed with a substantial cache of weapons, were recovered from the site. The search operation is still ongoing, with further details expected to emerge.
This incident marks a significant addition to the toll of Naxalites killed in Chhattisgarh this year. With the latest confrontation, the total number of Naxalites neutralised by security forces in separate encounters across the state has reached 145.
Earlier this year, in July, a similar encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district resulted in the death of a Naxalite. During that clash, forces from Telangana’s Greyhounds unit and Chhattisgarh’s District Reserve Guards (DRG) engaged with Naxalites in the Semaldodi forests, located on the border between Telangana and Chhattisgarh.
