Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is set to play a crucial role in advancing India's self-reliance in the defence sector, as highlighted by Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth. The company's efforts in civil Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) and its support for various Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) platforms were also emphasised.
The Defence Minister's visit included stops at the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas and Helicopter Divisions, where he showed great interest in the innovative activities being undertaken by HAL.

Earlier, on July 11, Sanjay Seth addressed senior officials of Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL) and the Gun and Shell Factory (GSF) in Kashipur during his first visit to Kolkata.
He highlighted the achievements and future prospects of AWEIL as a premier Defence Public Sector Undertaking (DPSU). The Minister emphasised the importance of enhancing performance, efficiency, and skills to remain competitive with both government PSUs and private industries.
Sanjay Seth called on AWEIL's skilled, qualified, and experienced workforce to fully utilise their human resources and collaborate with associated establishments. This collaborative approach is essential to achieving success and aligning with the nation's aspirations for self-reliance in defence production.
The visit by the Defence Minister underscores the Ministry of Defence's commitment to strengthening India's defence capabilities. It also reflects the broader goal of promoting self-reliance in defence production through organisations like HAL and AWEIL.
The government's support for these initiatives is crucial as India aims to reduce dependency on foreign defence equipment and enhance its indigenous production capabilities.
HAL's efforts in product development, technological advancements, and operational efficiency are vital to achieving these goals. The organisation's focus on indigenization and innovation aligns with the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' vision, aiming to make India a global leader in defence manufacturing.
HAL's proactive measures and the support from the Ministry of Defence highlight the significant role the organisation will play in India's journey towards self-reliance in the defence sector.
The commitment to improving performance, efficiency, and collaboration among defence establishments will be key to realising the nation's aspirations for a robust and self-sufficient defence industry.
