Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has made a significant commitment to the state's agricultural sector. At a recent farmers' association meeting in Chandigarh, Saini assured that the Haryana government will guarantee the purchase of all crops at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). This move is aimed at supporting farmers and ensuring fair compensation for their produce.
Saini highlighted that the government has already been proactive in this regard. The Chief Minister reported that the double-engine government had successfully procured 50 lakh 65,264 metric tons of millet and 33 lakh 52,000 metric tons of mustard at MSP.
Additionally, over the past decade, the government ensured the purchase of 96,000 metric tons of sunflower at MSP. These steps reflect the administration's commitment to securing better returns for farmers.
The Haryana government has broadened its procurement strategy to cover a diverse range of crops. This includes ten crops such as ragi, soybean, kalatil (niger seed), safflower, barley, maize, jowar, jute, khopra, and moong (summer). By implementing this policy, the government aims to stabilise market prices and protect farmers from fluctuations.
Saini also spoke about the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, which provides farmers with Rs 6,000 annually. This initiative, started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has seen 17 instalments distributed to farmers so far. Saini praised the scheme for its positive impact on the farming community.
In addition to crop procurement, Haryana is also focusing on dairy production. Earlier this week, Saini released subsidies under the ‘Mukhya Mantri Dugdh Utpadak Protsahan Yojana’.
He acknowledged the challenges faced by traditional cow farming and emphasised the role of milk production as an important employment generator in Haryana. The state is recognized for its high-quality milk and dairy products, thanks to the efforts of local farmers and the state government's support.
The Chief Minister's office also highlighted the distribution of subsidies to milk producers and Antyodaya families under the “Chief Minister Milk Producer Incentive Scheme”. This initiative is designed to encourage milk production and support those involved in the dairy industry.
