Heatwave warning has been issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for several states across the country, including Maharashtra, North Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha and West Bengal, in its latest weather forecast.
As per the IMD, heatwave conditions are forecasted to persist in Odisha and West Bengal until April 19, in Andhra Pradesh until April 18, in Telangana from April 17 to 18, and in North Goa till 16.
Additionally, the IMD has issued a separate warning specifically for cities in Maharashtra such as Thane, Mumbai, and Raigad. There has been a heatwave expected in these places this week.
In Maharashtra, Mumbai and Thane minimum temperature will range from 36 to 38 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, in Northwest India, the weather forecaster predicts the possibility of rainfall accompanied by strong winds, hail and thunderstorms today. A fresh spell of rain is expected over the next four days.
According to the report received from the weather office on Tuesday. Among the areas which experienced heavy rainfall are— Kothi 63 mm (which is the highest), followed by Chamba with 41 mm, Manali with 35 mm, Jot with 31 mm, Dalhousie with 28 mm, Keylong with 22 mm, Kasol with 19 mm and Kangra with 17 mm.
An orange alert has been issued in Himachal warning of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, hail and gusty winds at the speed of 30-40 km per hour. The alert is in the wake of fresh western disturbance which is anticipated to affect northwest India from Thursday.
