Hemant Soren, the newly-elected leader of the INDIA bloc, is poised to take oath as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand for the fourth time tomorrow. The swearing-in ceremony, scheduled to take place in Ranchi, is expected to be a significant event for the opposition alliance, as it will serve as a platform to display their unity and political strength.
The ceremony will be graced by several top leaders from the opposition bloc, including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, NCP President Sharad Pawar, and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, among others.
The event will also witness the presence of leaders from various political parties such as AAP Convener Arvind Kejriwal, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav, and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu.
Notable leaders from Bihar, including Tejashwi Yadav and Manish Sisodia, are also expected to attend. The guest list further includes key figures like Shiv Sena-UBT leader Uddhav Thackeray, former J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti, Tamil Nadu Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin, and Karnataka Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar.
Additionally, Meghalaya CM Conrad K. Sangma, whose party, the National People’s Party, is a member of the NDA, is also slated to attend.
In total, around 50,000 people are anticipated to attend the ceremony, which will be held at the Morabadi ground in Ranchi, a venue that has hosted similar events for Soren in the past.
The ceremony will also include the swearing-in of one minister each from the Congress and the RJD. Preparations for the event are well underway, with extensive decorations and arrangements being made to accommodate the expected crowd.
The state’s Chief Secretary, Alka Tiwari, conducted a review of the preparations, ensuring that all necessary arrangements for the event’s smooth execution are in place.
Ranchi’s Deputy Commissioner, Varun Ranjan, and the SSP, Chandan Sinha, have been overseeing the coordination of administrative and security measures.
A strong emphasis has been placed on adhering to strict security protocols to ensure the safety and smooth flow of the event. The authorities are working together to ensure that both the guest management and security aspects of the ceremony are handled with precision.
Earlier in the day, Hemant Soren took a moment to visit his native village, Nemra in Ramgarh district, to pay homage to his grandfather, Sobaran Soren, on his martyrdom day. He visited Lukaiyatand, where a statue of his grandfather stands, to honor his memory.
Soren, accompanied by his wife Kalpana Soren, paid tribute by garlanding the statue. Reflecting on the historical struggles of the Jharkhand people against exploitation, Soren spoke to the public, emphasizing the sacrifices of their forefathers and their continuous fight for justice and equality.
In his address, Soren remarked, “Our forefathers have always inspired us to fight for justice and rights. Their sacrifices motivate us to remain steadfast in our journey for equality and dignity.”
Through this visit, Soren also recalled the vision of his grandfather, who believed that education was the key to transforming society. Soren shared on social media, “Salute to the revered grandfather Amar Veer Martyr Master Sobran Manjhi ji on his martyrdom day… The people of Jharkhand have struggled and fought against exploitation and oppression for centuries. Our brave forefathers have always given us the passion to fight for our rights.”
