The Delhi High Court is poised to deliver its verdict on the anticipatory bail plea of AAP MLA Amanat Ullah Khan in the alleged Delhi Waqf Board Money Laundering case come March 11.

Khan's earlier bail plea was rejected by the trial court, setting the stage for a crucial legal battle. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma, presiding over the case, reserved the order after extensive arguments from both sides on March 4.

Senior advocate Kapil Sibal and advocate Rajat Bhardwaj represented Amanat Ullah Khan, while advocate Zoheb Hossain appeared for the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

The crux of the defense's argument is that Khan is innocent of any criminal wrongdoing or violation of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). His legal team contends that the allegations against him are baseless and motivated, lacking merit or evidence to substantiate them.

They assert that Khan is unjustly targeted by the investigating agency, with no grounds for his implication in the alleged offense. Conversely, the ED maintains that Khan has been evasive in responding to summons issued by the agency.

The Rouse Avenue court's dismissal of Khan's anticipatory bail plea on March 1 underscores the gravity of the situation. The ED alleges that Khan orchestrated the purchase of a property worth Rs 36 crore in the Okhla area, exacerbating the case against him.

The crux of the case involves the alleged illegal lease of Rs 100 crore worth of Waqf properties and the irregular appointment of 32 contractual employees during Khan's tenure as chairman of the Delhi Waqf Board.

The recent filing of a charge sheet against four accused persons, including Qausar Imam Siddiqui, further intensifies the legal battle. As the legal drama unfolds, the verdict on Khan's bail plea awaits, promising significant implications for the ongoing investigation.
