Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to chair a high-level meeting on June 8 in New Delhi to review security and logistical arrangements for the upcoming annual Amarnath Yatra. With security preparations for the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra entering the final phase, Union Home Minister will  assess the security and logistical arrangements for the pilgrimage, which is set to begin on July 3.

The meeting will be attended by key stakeholders, including Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, intelligence agencies, the Army, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and officials from the Jammu and Kashmir administration.

The meeting assumes added significance this year following the administration’s decision to declare the entire Amarnath Yatra corridor, including both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes, a No-Fly Zone from July 1 until the conclusion of the pilgrimage. As a result, helicopter services for pilgrims have been suspended, reflecting the government’s heightened focus on security amid evolving challenges in the region.

According to sources, the Home Minister will assess the preparedness of all security and civil agencies involved in ensuring the safe and smooth conduct of the pilgrimage. The review will focus on security arrangements along the twin routes of Pahalgam and Baltal, anti-terror measures, convoy protection, disaster management systems, medical facilities, communication infrastructure, and other essential services for pilgrims.Officials are expected to brief the Home Minister on the overall security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and the steps being taken to ensure a peaceful and incident-free pilgrimage season.
