Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq asked the elected government in Jammu and Kashmir to take necessary measures to stop the “injustice” of government employees being dismissed over the allegation of having terror links.
He demanded that the government must reinstate all suspended employees by the LG administration in recent times.
He made these remarks a day after the two government employees were relieved from their services by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for alleged terror links.
Reacting strongly to this development, Mirwaiz in a post on X said, “Two more government employees terminated by the stroke of a pen without any legal recourse! Families were rendered destitute before the onset of harsh winters. Punishment and fear are the hallmarks of an authoritarian mindset that has been ruling us here.”
He urged the elected government headed by present chief minister Omar Abdullah in the Union territory to reinstate all the employees who were recently unjustly terminated by the administration.
Mirwaiz called the move of terminating the employees over alleged militant links “unjust."
“The elected administration should take immediate measures to stop this injustice and reinstate all the terminated in this unjust manner even without a hearing,” said the moderate Hurriyat leader.
The two government employees dismissed from service were identified as Abdul Rehman Naika, a pharmacist in the health department, and Zahir Abbas, a teacher in the school education department.
Meanwhile, LG Sinha invoked Article 311(2)(c) of the Constitution to terminate the employees after investigations by law enforcement and intelligence agencies “clearly established their terror links.”
Under the said article, the administration has since ordered the suspension of several employees over the recent years in the UT, particularly Kashmir Valley.
