The Indian Air Force is likely to give a green signal for the trials of the Indigenous TALON SHIELD Jammer Pod, according to the reports.
It is a special, Indian-made pod that can jam or block enemy radar signals to protect the aircraft. These flight tests will be carried out on the Su-30MKI fighter jet. IAF will probably give the go-ahead for tests of the TALON SHIELD system very soon.
TALON SHIELD is developed by Data Patterns (India) Ltd. The pod is designed to boost the Su-30MKI’s electronic warfare capabilities by jamming and deceiving hostile radars and missile seekers.
On getting clearance from the IAF, the pod will be tested for compatibility, performance, reliability and integration with the aircraft’s existing avionics.
This development will be a major boost for all the efforts to improve the Su-30MKI aircraft and in boosting India’s defence frontier.
