IAF's contingent lands in France for air exercise.

The contingent of the Indian Air Force is participating in the bilateral air exercise with the French Air and Space Force, which will take place from November 16 to 27. The IAF contingent landed at Mont-de-Marsan Air Base, France.

IAF’s Su-30 MKI and FASF’s Rafale fighter jets will be part of the air drill.

The exercise is being held to simulate combat and showcase the prowess and professionalism of both India's and France’s air forces.

“The exercise will further enhance interoperability, foster exchange of best practices, and strengthen defence cooperation between the two Air Forces,” wrote the official X handle of the Indian Air Force in a post on X.

While India and France's cooperation in defense and security began in the post-independence era, it was formally established as a strategic partnership in 1998. This formalization, with defense as its principal pillar, was preceded and intensified by the creation of a High-Level Committee for Defence Cooperation in the same year.

There are other exercises that both nations conduct timely — including the naval exercise Varuna, the army exercise Shakti, and the joint exercise FRINJEX.
