The inaugural session of the 18th Lok Sabha is anticipated to commence around June 15, according to sources.

The session will begin in the third week of June with the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected members of Parliament, expected to extend over two days.

Following this, the election of the new Speaker will take place.

Subsequently, the President will address a joint sitting of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, formally marking the inauguration of the session.

The decision on the exact dates of the session will be finalized by the new Union Cabinet.

During the session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will introduce the members of his Council of Ministers to both Houses. The session is projected to conclude on June 22.

The Union Cabinet is slated to convene shortly after the swearing-in ceremony scheduled at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday evening.

The dissolution of the 17th Lok Sabha was officially effected on June 5 by President Droupadi Murmu, following the recommendation of the Union Cabinet.

President Murmu subsequently appointed Narendra Modi as the prime minister-designate on Friday after receiving a formal letter from BJP chief J P Nadda regarding Modi's election as the leader of the BJP Parliamentary Party.

Additionally, letters of support from NDA leaders were submitted.

In the recent Lok Sabha elections, the BJP secured 240 seats, falling short of the 272 required for a simple majority in the 543-member House.

However, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) collectively won 293 seats, ensuring a comfortable majority.
