Samajwadi Party Leader Akhilesh Yadav Emphasises Unity Ahead Of UP By-polls.

The upcoming by-polls in Uttar Pradesh have garnered attention as Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, announced that all candidates representing the INDIA Bloc will contest on the Samajwadi Party’s 'cycle' symbol. This move highlights the coalition’s focus on unity and the desire to secure a significant win in these by-elections.

Yadav made this announcement on social media, emphasising the importance of victory over mere seat allocation. He stated that it is not about securing a seat, but about achieving a broader triumph for the coalition.

The joint candidates of the INDIA Bloc will be vying for victory across all nine assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh, using the Samajwadi Party's well-known symbol. He underscored the solidarity between the Congress and Samajwadi Party, emphasising that both parties are working together with a common goal.

The Samajwadi Party leader also pointed out that this partnership with Congress has significantly boosted the party’s strength. He acknowledged the support of the Congress party’s leadership, as well as their grassroots workers, who are essential in mobilising voters and energising the campaign.

According to Yadav, this cooperation has created a renewed sense of determination among the INDIA Bloc workers, inspiring them to push for victory in every single assembly seat.

The focus is on preserving the values of the country’s Constitution, maintaining harmony, and upholding the dignity of the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA). He urged every voter to support the coalition, ensuring that not a single vote is lost or divided, as this election holds significant importance for the future.

This announcement follows earlier comments from Akhilesh Yadav, who had indicated that discussions were ongoing between the Samajwadi Party and Congress regarding seat-sharing for the upcoming by-elections, which are scheduled to be held on November 13.

The collaboration between the two parties is seen as a strategic move to consolidate their voter base and strengthen their chances of success in the upcoming elections.

Meanwhile, the process of nominations is well underway, with candidates across the state preparing to contest the by-elections. As of Wednesday, a total of 19 candidates had filed their nominations for the nine assembly seats that are set to go to the polls.

A day earlier, 15 candidates had submitted their nominations, bringing the total number of contenders to 34 so far. The deadline for submitting nominations is October 25, leaving ample time for more candidates to come forward.

The nine assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh that will witness by-polls include Meerapur, Kundarki, Ghaziabad, Khair, Karhal, Phulpur, and Katehari, among others. The elections are part of a larger by-poll process that will take place across 48 constituencies in 15 states, including Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal. Notably, by-polls will not be held for the Milkipur assembly seat in Ayodhya district, which remains vacant.

The Election Commission has already announced the schedule for these by-elections. Polling will take place on November 13, with the counting of votes scheduled for November 23. As the campaigning heats up, both the Samajwadi Party and Congress will be working together to mobilise their support base and ensure a strong turnout.
