India foiled Pakistan attack, says Rajnath Singh in Parliament

Singh elaborated that hostilities from Pakistan began on May 7 and intensified by May 10, when at around 1:30 am, the neighbouring country used drones, long-range missiles, and electronic warfare technologies.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday informed the Lok Sabha that India had successfully neutralised all attacks launched by Pakistan following the commencement of Operation Sindoor on May 7. He said that no critical assets of the Indian armed forces were damaged during the hostilities. Singh stated that nine terrorist infrastructure sites located in Pakistan were struck in precise operations that targeted over 100 terrorists, including their trainers and handlers.


Initiating the discussion on Operation Sindoor in the Lower House, Singh expressed pride in India’s robust defence preparedness. He said, “I feel proud when I say this, that our defence systems, counter-drone systems, and electronic equipment completely foiled Pakistan's attack. Pakistan could not hit any of the targets, and no important asset was damaged. Our security arrangements were quite vigorous. We stopped every attack. For this, I commend the brave Indian armed forces, who put water on each plan of the enemies.”


  These attacks were aimed at Indian Air Force bases and military cantonments. In response, on May 8, India targeted specific Pakistani air defence systems and sensor networks with precision-guided missiles. The Defence Minister emphasised that the Indian actions were focused solely on self-defence and were not provocative in nature.

Addressing the House, Singh urged opposition members to set aside political differences and acknowledge the efforts of the Indian armed forces. “To the Opposition too, at least now thump your hands to praise the Armed forces,” he said.


He further disclosed that the Indian military carried out successful strikes on several key Pakistani military locations, including air bases and command centres in Chaklala, Sargodha, Rafiqui, Rahim Yar Khan, Jacobabad, Sukh, and Bhalari. He said these operations demonstrated the courage and efficiency of the Indian forces, which were visible to the entire world.

The Defence Minister also highlighted that before launching Operation Sindoor, the armed forces had conducted a thorough study to ensure that maximum damage was inflicted on terrorist elements while safeguarding civilian lives.He claimed that the entire operation was finished in just twenty-two minutes, demonstrating the accuracy and promptness of India's military reaction.


Operation Sindoor was supposed to be discussed for more than 16 hours, but there were several interruptions. The opposition MPs' persistent protests and commotion caused the Lok Sabha to be adjourned three times until 2:00 pm. They entered the House Well before the proceedings resumed and the Defence Minister started speaking.
