In his first ‘Mann ki Baat’ address of the new year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi touched upon issues pertaining to the Indian economy, startup ecosystem, and social media trends.
Lauding the efforts of the younger generations in charting a successful startup journey nearly a decade ago, PM Modi said on Sunday that the country today has turned into the third largest startup ecosystem in the world with entrepreneurial ideas that are “out of the box”.
“They are working in sectors that were unimaginable even 10 years ago,” the prime minister said, adding that fields as diverse as artificial intelligence (AI), space, nuclear energy, semiconductors, mobility, green hydrogen, biotechnology are now all dominated by the startup space.
“You name it and you’ll find one Indian start up or the other working in that sector. I salute all my young friends who are associated with one start up or the other or want to start one of their own,” he said in his 130th Mann ki Baat address.
Taking the opportunity to greet the nation on National Voters’ Day today and Republic Day, which falls tomorrow, PM Modi also urged the Indian industry to focus on improving quality of products and resolve to make excellence a benchmark in manufacturing.

“Let us resolve to improve the quality of whatever we manufacture. Be it our textiles, technology, electronics or even packaging; an Indian product should become synonymous with ‘top quality’,” he said.
PM Modi’s ‘Mann ki Baat’ address was heard by BJP national president Nitin Nabin and UP CM Yogi Adityanath at Shri Vrindavan Chandrodaya temple located on the Vrindavan Marg.
Nabin, who reached Mathura today, said the prime minister has taken the country forward while “keeping the last person at the centre of governance”. “As I was coming here today, I felt that the roads in Uttar Pradesh are better than those seen abroad. This itself is testimony to how the country is changing,” he said.
Referring to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s concept of Antyodaya, Nabin said “it can now be said with confidence that the prime minister’s vision of development is focused on the poorest and the most marginalised”.
The newly-elected BJP President is in Mathura to meet the people of the Mant Assembly constituency. “By God’s grace, my first programme after becoming the BJP national president has been scheduled at Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna,” he said.
The BJP chief appealed to people to contribute to the development of the state and the country. “Prime Minister often states that when he takes one step forward, the country’s 140 crore people walk with him, and with such collective strength, no force can stop India from progressing,” he said.
