As the final day of competition approaches, India continues to assert its dominance at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix, leading the medal tally with an impressive haul of 95 medals.

India leads medal tally with 95 medals in World Para Athletics Grand Prix.


As the final day of competition approaches, India continues to assert its dominance at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix, leading the medal tally with an impressive haul of 95 medals.

 

The Indian contingent has secured 33 gold, 29 silver, and 33 bronze medals, showcasing exceptional performances across various events.

 

India remains well ahead of its closest competitors, with the Neutral Para Athletes contingent standing in second place with 26 medals, comprising 13 gold, nine silver, and four bronze. Uzbekistan rounds off the top three, having claimed four gold, four silver, and four bronze medals.

 

The Indian athletes remain determined to end the event on a high, with several key competitors preparing to compete on the final day. Among them is Preeti Pal, who has already secured a silver medal at the Grand Prix.

 

She is set to participate in the 200m T38 event and is expected to deliver another strong performance, given her consistent record in sprint events.

 

Ravi Rangoli will be taking part in the Shot Put F41 category. His recent performances at national championships have been remarkable, making him a strong contender in the field events.

 

Similarly, seasoned para-athlete Ankur Dhama, an Arjuna Awardee, will compete in the 5000m T12 race. Having represented India in multiple Paralympic Games, he is a formidable force in long-distance events.

 

Kashish Lakra, an Asian Para Games medallist, will participate in the Discus Throw F53 event. She has steadily risen through the ranks in wheelchair throw disciplines and is expected to put up a commendable performance.

 

Pranab Prashant Desai, who previously won medals at the Asian Youth Para Games, will be competing in the 200m T64 sprint. Known for his explosive speed and technique, he remains a strong contender in track events.

 

Similarly, Balaji Rajendran, a regular podium finisher in national and international para-athletics events, will participate in the Shot Put F11 category, aiming for another medal-winning performance.

 

Abhishek B Jadhav, a bronze medallist at the Nationals, will take part in the 200m T35 event. His resilience and quick acceleration have made him a consistent performer, and he will be looking to contribute to India’s medal tally.

 

Adding to the excitement of the Grand Prix, legendary para-athlete Vanessa Low will also be competing in the Women’s Long Jump events for the T38, T44, T61, and T64 categories.

 

A two-time Paralympic medallist and world record holder, her presence is expected to inspire fellow athletes and elevate the level of competition.
