Indian Naval Ship — INS Sahyadri — conducted an exercise with the Philippine Naval ship BRP Jose Rizal on Wednesday.

The sea drill was part of India’s indigenous stealth frigate's ongoing deployment to the Indo-Pacific Region — the largest maritime region, encompassing the Indian and Pacific Oceans and extending from East Africa to the western coast of the Americas.

“The exercise encompassed Naval Communication drills, Tactical Manoeuvres, Visit Board Search and Seizure (VBSS) drills and flying operations, enhancing interoperability between the two navies and demonstrating shared commitment to peace and maritime stability in the Indo-Pacific,” wrote the official X handle of the Indian Navy Spokesperson in its post.

Participating in naval exercises, collaborating on defence logistics and military training, including service-to-service interactions, both nations cooperate to enhance maritime security and counter piracy, driven by shared interests in maintaining a rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific Region and concerns over China's dominating assertiveness in the South China Sea.
