Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said during the 11 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "bold and visionary" leadership, India's defence sector has transformed remarkably from a largely import-driven model to becoming a "trusted global exporter".
In a post on X, the Union minister also underlined that the celebration of these years honours India's stride towards "strength, self-reliance and strategic global leadership". Singh highlighted the government's emphasis on the "Aatmanirbhar Bharat" and "Make in India" projects while sharing some data on defense exports.
According to him, India's defense exports increased from Rs 1,940 crore in 2014–15 to Rs 23,622 crore in 2024–25. He also emphasised India's missile capabilities, the nation's first indigenous multi-role combat helicopter, LCH Prachand, and its first indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant.
Singh claimed that India's defense industry has changed dramatically over the past 11 years, from being primarily dependent on imports to being a reliable supplier to the world, thanks to the audacious and innovative leadership of Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi.

"This journey has resulted in record-high defense exports to over 100 countries, indigenous milestones like LCH Prachand, Tejas fighter jets, BrahMos missile manufacture, and the creation of defence corridors attracting large investments, all thanks to #AatmanirbharBharat and #MakeInIndia," he said. He declared, "We honor India's progress towards strength, self-reliance, and strategic global leadership as we mark #11YearsOfRakshaShakti."
Singh also posted a video titled "Self-reliant defence: Strengthening Tomorrow's Bharat" that portrayed India's counterterrorism posture, including "Nari Shakti," numerous military drills, troop patrols, Operation Sindoor, and a decline in insurgency cases in the northeast.
"Under the inspirational leadership of Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi, India's defense sector has experienced a historic transformation in the 11 years of RakshaShakti, leading to stronger borders, modern armed forces, indigenous weapons, record defense exports, and international trust." "A proud step toward independence," Singh remarked.
